Privacy, security and community are the design features of the new independent living wing at Seacrest Village.

This 45,000 square foot, two-story independent living facility is an addition to the existing facility, which includes 30 units of one- and two-bedroom homes.

The independent living apartments are nestled in a garden setting, offering privacy and security. Centrally located lounges on each floor include fire places and provide opportunities for residents to gather and interact. The one- and two-bedroom independent living homes consist of 16 two- and 14 one-bedroom units, which range from 825 square feet to 1,290 square feet. Units include full kitchens, generous bathrooms with roll-in showers, walk-in closets, washer/dryers, and balconies/patios.  With residents’ futures in mind, unit plans are laid out with flexibility to allow conversion to become ADA accessible and meet the potential needs of residents onsite, thus allowing for aging-in-place.

The location of this already developed site proved to be a pinnacle challenge SGPA was able to meet successfully. Due to coastal height limit restrictions, the roof of the building had to be closely coordinated with the existing grades to ensure that the final condition complied with the city’s 30′ height limit. SGPA worked closely with the client and users via weekly meetings throughout design and construction to deliver a project that met the needs of the owners, staff, and residents. In addition, this facility includes the following sustainable elements: dual pane glazing, energy efficient lighting and appliances, and water saving plumbing features.
