Since 1999, the Women’s Community Clinic has provided a warm and welcoming environment where Bay Area women can access affordable health care and outreach services. This tenant improvement project created a new location for the clinic, which now serves 3,500 women annually.

With its volume growing to exceed 6,000 appointments per year, the Women’s Community clinic hired SGPA to undertake an extensive search for a new, larger site. These consulting services progressed to programming, design documentation, and construction administration for this 6,000-square-foot clinic tenant improvement.

The new facility features six exam rooms and three education rooms. A computer station offers Internet access to clients. An exercise and instructional room hosts prenatal group education. Overall, the new facility creates a well-equipped environment for an organization that runs on the strength, commitment, and passion of its community through an innovative volunteer-based business model.

Our team also coordinated services for clinic vendors including information technology, furnishing and interior design, security, signage, environmental, and telephone. We used Historic Building Code to negotiate new occupancy of the building basement with city building officials. The project adheres to San Francisco Green Business Guidelines for design and construction.
