47 years of architecture and design.

In 1969, four young architects came together to combine their two practices and form SGPA. Led by those four – Donald Schoell, Eugene Geritz, Robert Paul and Arthur Allard – SGPA began to build a name for ourselves in retail and office work. Growth followed success, and what began as a primarily retail-focused firm has grown into a multi-studio practice with a range of projects steered by a team of over 40 dedicated men and women between two offices in California. We have become specialists in projects that feature or blend retail, wellness, education and housing.

Over the years, we’ve designed an integral part of the Southern California and Bay Area urban fabric, providing places for thousands of people to shop, gather, learn, and heal. We will continue to grow and adapt to market changes by keeping our focus on what’s important: designing environments that create memorable experiences and enrich daily life in our communities.

Thank you for helping us get to where we are today—we can’t wait to see what we’ll build together next!
