SGPA celebrates our Golden Anniversary

As we enter into this new year, SGPA is excited to be celebrating our 50th year in business.  SGPA was founded in 1969 when Donald Schoell, Eugene Geritz, Robert Paul, and Arthur Allard merged their architectural practices to form a new entity.  Since opening our doors, we’ve designed an integral part of the Southern California and Bay Area landscape, providing places for people to live, gather, learn, and heal.

Reaching this golden milestone was no easy task.  Since 1969, there have been two monumental pillars that have supported our growth and made this journey possible: our team and our clients.

Our team: Throughout the decades, SGPA has employed and supported hard-working and dedicated professionals.  Our employees are the heart and soul of our firm.  Without their creativity, experience, and determination, SGPA never would have sustained.

“SGPA has been my home for over 25 years.  From my start as a student intern to my position as President today, I have always felt that SGPA was a place where I could pursue my dreams as an Architect.  I have been consistently challenged to explore and expand my role during my career. My mission is to continue to make SGPA a firm that nurtures our team members and allows them to live up to their full potential.”
– Stuart Lyle, President of SGPA

Our clients: SGPA’s main objective is helping our clients achieve the project they want.  We approach each and every project with our client’s best interest at heart.  In return, our clients have continued to support and promote our business.  This mutual respect has been a pillar of our company throughout these 50 years.

“Our clients inspire us to be better designers, builders, and partners.  We strive to understand their challenges and design needs and incorporate those into the community to create special places people enjoy.  We work with public and private; non-profit and for-profit clients, each with a different mission and goal.  Each of these relationships is special and rewarding, and I appreciate all who have shared their dreams with us.”
– Keith Pittsford, Vice-President of SGPA

We look forward to the future of SGPA, as we begin our next 50 years.

Today, SGPA consists of more than 50 professionals across three offices in San Diego, San Francisco, and Fresno California. The collaborative technologies that allow us to function as one team across time and distance have expanded the scope of SGPA’s work immensely. We believe the ever-evolving marketplace will continue to change over the next few decades, especially as densification and mixed-use become more viable and desirable. SGPA aims to meet these changes by keeping its focus on what’s important: creating places that enrich daily life.
