As leadership roles evolve, SGPA embraces its future by appointing select team members to Associate positions and hiring a highly experienced and creative Senior Designer.

SGPA Architecture and Planning has recognized two of the firm’s current and future leaders with appointments through the SGPA Associates Program. Alexis Burck and Pamela Camack were appointed Senior Associates and Hilary Backman joining the San Diego office at the beginning of July as a Senior Designer and Associate.

“We are extremely proud of Pam and Alexis for their dedication and past achievements. SGPA is excited to be a part of the next phase of their career development and the wonderful places they will be involved in creating, said Stuart Lyle, President of SGPA. 

“We are also very excited to welcome Hil to SGPA’s Senior Design team. We look forward to his creativity and his contributions in design, entitlements and place making excellence,” said Keith Pittsford, Vice President of SGPA.

Alexis Burck has managed all aspects of a project for various project types, from single-family and mixed-use residential to senior living, retail, and community health clinics. As  a registered architect with eleven years of experience, including nearly six at SGPA, she provides strong digital and artistic design skills after many years of studying and teaching both drawing and computer aided design. Her focus is on community health clinics and senior living design for which she has proven to be a rising star in these sectors.  

Pamela Camack has been with SGPA for nearly a decade, managing architectural concepts through all project phases and coordinating engineering and consultant work. She is a registered architect, and focuses on senior living and wellness projects with experience in higher education and retail. As a LEED Accredited Professional, she oversees the execution of sustainable elements in her projects. She also serves as SGPA’s BIM Manager, directing the office’s strategic use of building information modeling technologies and processes.

Hilary Backman joins SGPA as a Senior Designer and Associate with over 20 years of experience. Hil has designed a range of successful projects in California and abroad. His specialties include residential, hospitals, mixed-use, retail, senior living communities, community centers, community planning, custom residential, hotels, tenant improvement projects, and schools at all levels of education.

Backman’s substantial portfolio highlights include:

  • Community Centers: Romoland Community Center, Boys and Girls Club, Taiping Community Center, Shanghai Community Center (Keppel), Presidio Clubhouse
  • Custom Residences
  • Hospital Planning: Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Baffin Regional Hospital, PEI Canada Veterinary Hospital
  • Hotels: La Cadiere Hotel
  • Mixed Use: Creekside Affordable Housing
  • High-rise: Tenant Improvements, CIBC towers, Multiple Projects Shanghai 
  • Senior Community and Planning: Taiping Senior Community- Nursing Care, Memory Care, Independent Living, Retail, Community Center
  • Scholastic: Forest Sciences Center, UPEI Veterinary College
