Littlejohn Commons, a 31-unit affordable housing development provided by the Alameda Housing Authority, had its grand opening on October 1, 2018. This development named after Alameda housing justice advocate, Elector Littlejohn, will serve the island’s low income senior population. Littlejohn Commons is a GreenPoint Rated Gold building featuring rooftop solar photovoltaic panels offsetting 75% of common area electrical usage, community gardening space, drought tolerant landscaping and water saving irrigation, water saving plumbing fixtures, and renewable material usage. The building features 30 fully accessible 1-bedroom homes with roll-in showers, generous balconies, and sustainable finishes, and one 2-bedroom resident manager’s unit.
