Littlejohn Commons, a 31-unit affordable housing development provided by the , had its grand opening on October 1, 2018. This development named after Alameda housing justice advocate, Elector Littlejohn, will serve the island’s low income senior population. Littlejohn Commons is a GreenPoint Rated Gold building featuring rooftop solar photovoltaic panels offsetting 75% of common area electrical usage, community gardening space, drought tolerant landscaping and water saving irrigation, water saving plumbing fixtures, and renewable material usage. The building features 30 fully accessible 1-bedroom homes with roll-in showers, generous balconies, and sustainable finishes, and one 2-bedroom resident manager’s unit.
